Celebrate National Library Week April 7-13, 2024, at the Jersey City Free Public Library

Join us at the Jersey City Free Public Library for National Library Week, April 7–13, 2024, and celebrate a week full of discovery, connection, and lifelong learning. First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries of all types across the country each April. As the largest municipal library in New Jersey, the Jersey City Free Public Library (JCFPL) is dedicated to serving our diverse community with a wide array of programming, resources, and services that go beyond traditional library offerings.

This National Library Week, we’re excited to highlight our achievements and unique programs that set us apart:

  • Pop-Up Library: Our innovative Pop-Up Library initiative, funded by the Jersey City Free Public Library Foundation, offers free access to e-books and audiobooks across Jersey City. With a QR code decal for easy access and no library card required, we’re making reading more accessible than ever. Locations include Greenville Building, Jersey City Medical Centers, Lackawanna Coffee, and more, with new sites coming soon.
  • Comprehensive Digital and Physical Collections: Our collections total over a million items. From academic resources to leisure reading, we cater to the needs of all our patrons.
  • Programs for Lifelong Learning: Embracing our mission of Lifelong Learning, we offer programs ranging from literacy initiatives for all ages to high school equivalency and U.S. citizenship test prep. Furthermore, we also provide health and wellness programs and the support of a full-time onsite social worker.

During National Library Week, explore our special events, including book clubs, storytimes, movie nights, crafting classes, lectures, and more. The Jersey City Free Public Library is a place where you can connect with others, learn new skills, and pursue your passions. We are an inclusive and supportive community where everyone is welcome. Get ready to explore, become inspired, and connect with others this National Library Week. The Jersey City Free Public Library is here for you, every step of the way.
