Tales of Our Cities 2018

The Jersey City Free Public Library was proud to host Tales of Our Cities, Jersey City's Tenth Annual Book Festival, on Sunday, September 23, 2018 in the Newark Avenue Pedestrian Plaza. The annual Book Festival is the time when we celebrate Jersey City's stories and the authors who tell them! This year, our incredible lineup of local authors and performers included former Assemblyman and Freeholder Louis Manzo, with his debut novel An Irish Lullaby, local historian David Goodwin's Left Bank of the Hudson: Jersey City and the Artists of 111 1st Street, and Leona Beasley, author of Something Better than Home - a 2018 Finalist for the Lambda Literary Award. Gray skies and an early fall chill didn't stop community members from coming to the festival throughout the day to enjoy the many author talks and interactive activities for children of all ages. From hilarious mystery stories to searing personal narratives, from Bollywood and Hip-Hop to slam poetry and superheroes, there was something for everyone at this year's Book Festival!
