A Clean Slate - Library Offers Fine Amnesty Week, Nov. 13 -18

JERSEY CITY, N.J.: Nov. 1, 2017 –The Jersey City Free Public Library announces an upcoming Fine Amnesty Week, giving Library patrons with outstanding fines an opportunity to wipe the slate clean and restore their access to Library services and resources.

As the Library’s way of saying “Thank You” to patrons during this Thanksgiving season, all patrons are offered a one-week fine amnesty. The Library will clear all overdue fines and blocks for overdue materials returned during Fine Amnesty Week, which will run from Mon., Nov. 13 to Sat., Nov. 18. Patrons may return materials to the Main Library, any of the nine branches, or the Bookmobile; the only exceptions are DVDs and cassettes, which must be returned to the location they were borrowed from.

All returned materials must be in good condition; fines related to lost or damaged materials are not eligible for amnesty. After the conclusion of Fine Amnesty Week, patrons with outstanding overdue materials will be marked with the status of “Barred or Delinquent,” which will remain until all materials returned and/or overdue fines are paid.
