The Community Awareness Series (CAS) is an innovative, multi faceted, wide-ranging cultural, educational and public information project in Jersey City. Initiated in 1977 at the Miller Branch Library in cooperation with the Spirit of Life Cultural Arts, Inc. it is a community-based organization.

The CAS Sponsors many programs throughout the city. The department attempts to document many of its programs on videotape, to develop a video library for public use as well as a source for Jersey City Cable Television programming with the Jersey City Free Public Library a programmer/producer. Currently, the CAS sponsors the "Urban Forum" and "Cultural Odyssey" programs on the local cable channel.
