There’s
nothing like a good book.
Good books come from good authors, especially the 16 who participated
in the book festival, A Tale of Our City, on Saturday, September 13, as
the library and city government celebrated authors and the books they
write about, including Jersey City and other fascinating subjects. The
Jersey City Free Public Library staffed a tent and signed up lots of readers
for library cards during the book festival, too. (Check out the picture
gallery link!)
Mid-September’s A Tale of Our City, Jersey City’s first annual
book festival, served as the kick off for the Jersey City Free Public
Library’s participation in the nationwide community read-in –
The Big Read – to promote literacy and reading, and to encourage
reading of the great classics. The Big Read is an initiative of the National
Endowment for the Arts in partnership with the Institute of Museum and
Library Services and Arts Midwest.
Come join in on The Big Read… Be part of the community-wide reading
and discussion of one of the classic novels of all time…on book
