Wednesday, May 10, 2006 will be remembered by many lucky Jersey City seniors who received the honor of being pampered with a buffet lunch and entertainment at the annual Miller Branch Mother’s Day Luncheon. Mother’s Day was celebrated on Sunday, May 14th this year.

Jersey City Police Officer Kora Kerton and Library Director Priscilla Gardner were among the people who served these beloved mothers and grandmothers of Jersey City residents, most of whom reside in Jersey City senior housing or in other facilities, such as Liberty House.

The over 100-strong attendees heard from Barbara Armstrong from Easter Seals, who spoke of seniors obtaining employment and other benefits that organization offers. This rapt audience enjoyed music, along with a PowerPoint presentation, which gave a wide range of information about different senior programs in Jersey City.
